About me in english
Jani Seijesvirta
MY NAME is Jani Seijesvirta. I am a 35-year-old father of two lively children. Our family lives in Ruoke, Jyväskylä and in addition to my wife and children consists of two small dogs. In my free time I play floorball and go jogging with my dogs, but the best way for me to relax is by reading books. In the summer I like fishing and travelling with my family in a caravan all over Finland. My hometown, my birth town Jyväskylä is important to me which is why I want to be involved in deciding its future.
FOR EDUCATION, I have a master's degree in construction engineering. I work in a large private engineering office as a construction manager. In my daytime job, I specialize in renovations of housing associations and various other buildings. Every renovation is different which keeps the work interesting. Working with people and solving their problems is what I like the most at my job. Therefore I believe I could do a lot of good in Jyväskylä´s decision-making.
I also work as an entrepreneur with my wife through various ventures. We calculate and write energy certificates for buildings and construct detached and semi-detached houses. When I was younger I worked alongside studies as a cleaner and a handyman at Valmet in Rautpohja and as a construction worker at Are.
JUSTICE, WELFARE OF THE CHILDREN AND THE YOUNG, LIVELIHOOD OF PEOPLE, entrepreneurship, education, environment, safety and well-being are precisely the values that are important to me. Everyone needs a healthy environment around them and the opportunity to feel valued. Everyone should have the opportunity to make a meaningful life for themselves. Everyone must be guaranteed a safe environment regardless of age, gender, origin, sexual orientation, life situation or other background. Compassion must be remembered in every situation, because you can never know what another person has had to experience during his life.
SOCIETY'S main goal is to support and strengthen people's own ability to bear responsibility for themselves and their loved ones. In my opinion, fairness includes the fact that rational choices, strength and hard work can bring prosperity to a person and no-one should feel bad about it. Everyone must take responsibility for their own life, but in a welfare society we must also make sure that those who have fallen into difficulties are put back on their feet. Therefore functioning services of the welfare society and their availability are important in addition to the necessary financial security. Everyone must be guaranteed the basic conditions of life and the possibility to succeed.
I TRUST IN SCIENCE AND RESEARCH, wich help us to develop and learn as a society. It is said that progress cannot be stopped and that is why we must ride at the forefront of development. In Jyväskylä science and research are strongly present and it must be so also in the future.
DIVERSITY OF NATURE AND GOOD TREATMENT OF ANIMALS should be promoted. Each of us has the opportunity and duty to influence in the good treatment of nature and try to curb climate change. Even small actions matter.
